How to Decorate For Less this Christmas #Blogmas 2018

Just like the amount of advent calendars available on the market there are a multitude of Christmas decorations readily available throughout the land. There certainly is something to suit everyone's budget and taste. Whether you go all out or go for a more minimalist approach I hope you have a lovely Christmas.

Over the years I have been building up quite a collection of Christmas decorations. We have those we have bought from charity shops, some from Home Bargains, B&M, Supermarkets, TK Maxx, Poundland, Wilko, The Finishing Touch and even pieces we've been handed from relatives no longer
wanting them.

Over the years I have experimented with our decorations and last year we swapped from having a black fake tree to a green fake one. We have discussed having a real tree but the cost, the fact that they shed and the desire to be as environmentally friendly as possible has led us to use a green fake one every year.

Last year was also the first time I decided to try out decorating the tree with ribbon instead of tinsel. I'd seen a Canadian vlogger called The Diy Mommy and was impressed. Her taste is similar to mine and we share the same love for pink and teal. These colours go so well with the colours gold and silver which are seen a lot around Christmas time as an alternative to the traditional red and green. They can also be used together to bring about different themes. The one I fell for last year featured
peacocks but this year I've gone for a more feminine approach with lots of coloured flowers, unicorns and butterflies.

I started decorating for Christmas back in November and scoured social media for inspiration. I absolutely loved Toni Interior's fireplace garland so decided to emulate hers and that of one I saw in the shop The Finishing Touch. I began with fake foliage that once belonged to my father in law and added baubles we'd had for a while and snowflakes. I completed the look with butterflies I'd discovered in B&M, some little rose buds from Home Bargains and three big flowers from TheFinishing Touch. I did the same with the top of the book case but instead of pink opted for blue butterflies. On top of the fireplace that was handmade by my grandfather in law are candles, a couple of vases that appear to look good whatever the season and a countdown to Christmas.

What style are you going with this Christmas?

  3. I got a bit frustrated with my tree this year, it looks wonky and like its been to weight watchers, I've told the hubby I want a nice fat tree next year and I also want my fireplace finished as we have no mantel which again frustrates me lol #blogmas2018

  6. Your ideas and colour scheme are really different. I go for lots of traditional evergreen and candles, and wooden decorations though our tree is eclectic like yours with decorations bought over the years and I even have an old bauble from my Grandma, it must be 60 years old! I'd definitely go for a real tree though, my Christmas tree care post tells why! #GoingGreen

  10. I have always found that buying little bits on boxing day is best! Wrapping paper, tape and Christmas Decs. Saves lots that way.
