Next Stop Tetbury

On the way home from Westonbirt Arboretum we were enticed into stopping off at nearby Tetbury. We pulled into a free car park and made our way to the centre in search of a bite to eat. We already had fillings such as cheese in our cool bag but were keen to add a baguette to the mix. Sadly the bakery didn't appear to stock any and the market that day didn't sell any either so we made our way to a supermarket that was surrounded by Japanese who appeared to admire the girls.

After a bite of lunch we walked around the area exploring the sights of the town and found all but one of the geocaches we tried to track down there. Therefore, our geocache finds stand at a little over 11,000 finds now. Geocaches are a great way in which to explore a new area and as one of the people who set them in the area pointed out it helps show a different side to the area. Tetbury is known for its antiques but there’s a police museum there too and where we’d parked up there were definite signs of there once being a thriving train station. My husband thought there may well have been two tracks running along the side of the station bringing people in and out of the area. I imagine that people would now find it odd that the grand building was hosting an Egyptian event the day we visited.

On our gps we could also see a trail of geocaches leading in the opposite direction from the car park along a cycling track. The track looked fairly flat so one day maybe we will be lured back to the area to take these in. The girls have yet to truly experience what it is like cycling though our eldest was given a lovely wooden bike for her birthday. We live in a fairly flat area here and I can imagine them travelling in little seats on bikes or even contained in a trailer. Now if they could do the pedalling while I lounged back and relaxed sipping warm tea that’d be perfect.
