Things I've Liked and Loved in April

This month has been one whirlwind of a crazy month. I say that as being one for routine Easter has shaken things up a bit. There’s been linkys going on holiday and little ones driving us a little crazy from morning to night or is that just in my house? This week I thought I'd shake up my Friday post and not just reflect on the week but the month too. Here's how our month has been spent.

Things I've Liked and Loved in April

We've brought the outdoors inside the home as we've been reading seasonal books featuring flowers, rabbits and Easter egg hunts. This season has certainly grown on me this year and has got to be my favourite. It’s not too hot or too cold and there are lots of lovely colours and natures wonders are in abundance.

It seems funny to put this series Mind over Marathon in my liked and loved post as it did indeed move me to tears. However, I loved how people came together to support each other and raise awareness of mental health. We all have a mind and it's crazy that mental health is still seen as a taboo lets end that.

We're going on an adventure

This month I've felt very blessed to hear that I've featured in a number of linkys as the most clicked on with my post on the girls Easter books. Whereas my post on Camp Wilderness was also featured by Tried & Tested and Dawn from Rhyming With Wine. Dear Bear and Beany also featured my post Ways to Connect with Nature in her Sharing The Blog Love Showcase. It can feel so disheartening when you are not picked time and time again but when you are picked wow you feel loved.

I've found the best cure to getting out of cabin fever is to head outdoors and breathe. So we've taken the arts and crafts materials out into the garden and had fun playing with the supplies. I drew this little rainbow with the chalk I’d got the girls. I feel showing them how to do things enables them to realise that they too can achieve something even if it’s a little mark running through mummy’s drawing.

We have been making the most of the lovely weather this month and got outside for many an adventure. Of course it's rare that the girls will be out and about in dresses. We all do well in a good pair of jeans that stop us from getting prickled by the nettles. You can read more about our adventures in this post here

We had a lovely Easter I do admit that our only Easter egg hunt was that at the nearby toddler group but still eldest took part in one. I will have to make more of a conscious effort to source out local ones to us. I've seen a few children take part in different kinds of hunts over the Easter period due to reading many posts linked up to Coombe Mill’s Country Kids linky.

So that's what I've liked and loved in April. What have you been enjoying?

  1. I really enjoyed Mind Over Marathon, it was really touching. As someone who has suffered with mental health problems I can see how running can help. I did a charity run a couple of years ago but it was only 3K, I felt so good afterwards about what I'd achieved and having my friends waiting for me at the finish line was amazing.
Well done for getting featured in the linkies, it is nice isn't it.

  3. Sounds like a lovely April. The Easter break does throw things out, doesn't it, in a good way, of course! You've reminded me to start taking arts and crafts outside now that the weather's on the up, too, as my children love that, thank you x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  4. Hi Helena, congratulations on getting your posts noticed more. I remember back along you mentioning you never seemed to get featured, so it must be fab! It is a bout time that mental health was no longer a taboo subject, it's nothing to be ashamed of. I think part of the problem is that it is not a visible condition and people do not understand what they cannot see.

You little girl looks like she is loving crafting in the garden. And I bet there was much less mess to worry about outdoors too.

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.

    1. Yes I have certainly felt that way. It's great when you are featured but for anyone feeling frustrated that they just don't seem to get picked remember it's only one persons view.

I agree with you that many fear what they can't see and thus dismiss it but mind and body work together.

Yes she sure loves to be out on the 'swings', 'shopping' and crafting.

  19. It sounds like you've had a lovely month! The only Easter egg hunt my boys used to do when they were small was one I did around the house with really small eggs hidden all over the place - the house was always wrecked but they loved it so much :) We occasionally do National Trust ones now if the boys aren't feeling 'too grown up' for it all.

Thanks for linking up to #LikedandLoved

  20. Sounds like a great April. I always get emotionally moved by the marathon too. Would love to do it one year. No where near capable at the moment. We was just starting to enjoy the warmer weather in April. Walks, parks and lots of outside stuff. Then the freezing weather came back and I lost a lot of my motivation again. Just means more snuggle indoors time. We visited our local farm for an Easter egg hunt which was ok. Visited family in Gloucester for a birthday party which was a wonderful weekend Easter break. I've always had lots of child free nights out and started to feel like me again instead of just someone's mummy. It only took two years lol.

    1. Go for it. I imagine it being very good for health even if you do just the training you'll benefit right? The weather puts me off too. Since we had the babies I've been restricting our adventures in wet weather. Snuggles indoors sound lovely. Sounds like you've done lots too.

  29. What a great month April has been for you. Sorry that you felt like that about not being picked, it's never our intention for our linky to make people feel like that. We tried to make our linky different by adding the showcase post and Katy and I both reading all the blogs, which takes a lot of our time but we love it. We wanted to try and give something back to the blogging community. x #KCACOLS
