With Autumn well and truly upon us and hearing talk of visiting pumpkin patches. I wondered what our own region had on offer. We tracked down one farm that had picked quite a lot and left others still growing for people to pick from.
Picking up the girls after preschool recently we were keen to track down a pumpkin patch in the area. I have been keen to create a family calendar and of course October has to have a pumpkin on it right? So off we journeyed in the car but on the way eldest asked where we were headed. Once I'd commented that we were off to a pumpkin patch eldest wasn't keen on the idea instead suggesting that we may prefer to visit the big park in town instead.
However, as we drove up the drive past Christmas dinner (turkeys) we were greeted by the car park and hay bales with pumpkins of all different sizes and shapes sat on top of them. The girls on seeing them at once changed their mind. Mummy had a good idea all along. At once the girls ran over to the pumpkins and touched them. We were surprised to notice that the storks on top of them were kind of prickly and not one of the pumpkins was identical.
There were very few people around that afternoon so we had the patch all to ourselves as the girls wound their way round them posing for Daddy with camera in his hand. I suggested that they may like to see if they could pick them up or give them a bit of a hug. The girls were reminded to be gentle and all pumpkins remained intact.
We had a great afternoon visiting the pumpkin patch at Peach Croft Farm and are pleased that it didn't pour down with rain like the skies appeared to be threatening.
Have you visited a pumpkin patch this Autumn?

I have to admit I have never visited a pumpkin patch but I always love seeing other people’s photos of them - it does look like a fun thing to do. Maybe one day we’ll take a trip out to one. I love how your eldest suggested going to the park instead and then was won over by seeing all the pumpkins. #countrykids
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to do a family calendar - and a picture with pumpkins is perfect for October! It sounds like you had great fun at the pumpkin patch too! #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteI'm suffering from FOMO at the moment, we usually pick a pumpkin and do lots of activities in the run up to Halloween...I prefer the Autumnal activities and Halloween theme to the actual night itself. We are currently waiting for baby number 3 to arrive (he's late) so our October plans have been disrupted somewhat. Now I've read your post, I'm even more determined to try and make it to a patch!!
ReplyDeleteoh i love the pictures, would really get you into the halloween/autumn spirit :) #thesatsesh
ReplyDeleteThis is something we’ve never done sadly. My OH sells them so he always just brings one home. We probably should do this though before my son is too old to want to #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteI'm not aware of any pumpkin patches near us but they always look like a fun expedition. That's a beautiful photo of your daughter hugging the pumpkin. #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your girls had lots of fun at the pumpkin patch. We will be visiting our local one this week too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with #MMBC. x
We love pumpkin picking, it really sets up the Halloween excitement. The pumpkin your daughter is sprawled on looks massive!! Off to find our local PYO, we haven't done it since we've been in Northumberland. #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteHere in Texas, pumpkin patches are a big deal. There are tons of them near us. At the pumpkin patch I used to take my son when he was little, there are hayrides, face painting, scarecrow stuffing, corn mazes, goat & horses to feed, pumpkins to paint, and pumpkins to pick to take home with you. Now that he is older (12) we go to a nearby church that sells the pumpkins for a charity donation. Love the big smile on your daughter's face. #country kids
ReplyDeleteWe haven't visited any pumpkin farms as yet - but this post has very much sold the idea to me! Cute photos :-) xx #thesatsesh
