Keep Kids Entertained with Busy Kits

Being in a county surrounded by land I knew it would take a while for us to get to the seaside. So I thought the girls would be very pleased to receive a busy kit to keep them occupied on the way and return trip. I put it together in secrecy. Not easy with my eldest that's for sure but top shelves come in handy.

Inspired by the Youtuber The Purple Alphabet I decided to put together a busy kit for the girls. Sadly we don't have a Target in the UK so I had to come up with other places in which to gather products from.

Our Seaside Busy Kit

As we were headed towards the sea I thought it would be a lovely idea for the kit to contain the same theme. So I added stickers from a well known pound store, a sea life sticker book found at a carboot sale, a Crayola Mess Free book I'd picked up in a supermarket sale, a holiday book found at a charity shop and a white board from Home Bargains among other things.

I produced the kit from its hiding place just before we set off. As the eldest peered through the see through container and discovered what goodies awaited her. I told her that she couldn't open it until we set off in the car. This added to the excitement for sure and we were soon off to Bournemouth. She struggled a bit with opening and closing the box so I was on hand to help. She had a little play with everything but didn't finish any of it.

A Busy Kit Fit For A Princess

I created a similar car kit with the theme of pricesses for her little sister. However, I felt due to her age she would be better off with the etch a sketch instead. The parts being perfect for her little hands and big enough not to be put in her mouth.

Have you ever put a busy kit together?

    1. Thank you Jayne. So true about Poundland. Although I'd love to see more things like felt activity books.
