My Likes and Loves: June 2018

We are flying through these months as if we were in a rush to get to Christmas! It's scary how time flies but a reminder that we have been having fun. This month we are linking up again with the wonderful Stevie aka A Cornish Mum as we highlight all the wonderful moments we've been blessed with this June.

My Likes and Loves: June 2018

Swimming

My eldest has been swimming with her Grandma and undertaken swimming lessons that led to a certificate. I'm one proud mummy and so pleased she's taken to the water like a duck would. She's growing in confidence, having lots of fun and learning a skill that is valuable.

30 Days Wild

My Likes and Loves: June 2018

We've taken a relaxed approach to 30 Days Wild this year and still found ourselves going outside for fresh air. There is so much wildlife to be encouraged on our very own doorstep and we've certainly seen a few flying insects about this month. This bee really challenged me when it came to taking their photo. You certainly need patience and to know your camera well.

Weather Watchers

My Likes and Loves: June 2018

We extended our learning of wildlife to incorporate the alphabet challenge. In doing this we learnt a little about the weather. We made a suncatcher to attract the sun and a rain gauge to catch the rain. We had great fun in making these things and it's reminded me of my primary school days where we recorded the date and what the weather was doing.

Giffords Circus - shadow

My Likes and Loves: June 2018

My youngest has also made me proud this month. She's turned two and as a gift from her Grandparents we all went to the circus. Sadly we remembered on our way half way there that we'd forgotten our camera and were worried that if we turned back would be late.So instead we relaxed and all had a great time watching the clowning around, acrobatics and more. One of my girls pointed out the shadows and I'm pleased she did as one of the acrobats made a move that was better understood if you looked at her shadow.  Our birthday girl was such a trooper too as she rebelled against her midday nap and enjoyed every minute of the show. Pointing and smiling at all the things she experienced.

Flywheel

My Likes and Loves: June 2018

To round off the month we headed to Flywheel which we'd been invited to following last year's success. There we met up with my parents and soaked in the sun and sights. My favourite bit has to be seeing the cars from the movies and I love the vintage wedding cars too that remind me of my wedding day a few years ago now. My hubby on the other hand loved the planes and his passion for it leads to him having the ability to name each plane he sees. The girls on the other hand loved the fact that they could climb on the odd vehicle and pretend they were driving it.

So that is our June in a nutshell. We thoroughly enjoyed all the highlights and look forward to more highlights this year. What has the month of June had in store for you?

  1. So much fun in your month! We've been enjoying the lake with our grand babies, and it's so much fun to enjoy the sunshine with their new eyes!

  2. I love the sanity in this post in that you count your blessings and keep making some very magical memories. Recent tragic news stories show just how vital swimming skills are so well done on that score. I need to look into the 30 days wild thing as keep seeing it everywhere and we have such wild and lovely surroundings here. Intend to start some learning about weather next week as part of our home education journey. Starting to allow myself to take it all in manageable chunks. Never heard of the last two things but always something to learn from bloggers and great ideas too #BestBootForward

  7. We have had a very busy June - as we do every year. My girls dance, so there's the annual performance and everything that leads up to that; and then the end of the school year. I'm hoping to take time this weekend to decompress from my busy month!

Your month sounds pretty great. Getting out in nature is something I try hard to fit in as much as possible.

  10. I used to go for a swim every week after dropping my son to school nice and early before the pool got too crowded, sadly suffering a stroke means that I have lost the use of my left side, I haven't tried swimming since as I think I would just go round in circles! #satsesh@_karendennis

  17. Hi Helena, you've done some lovely things in June. The suncatcher looks very pretty and measuring the rain can be fun (if also a little depressing). Encouraging your girls to checkout the wildlife right on their doorstep is a wonderful thing to do, there is more there than we imagine... I can't believe your youngest is two! I remember when you had her... Now that is scarey!

Thank you for linking up with #keepingitreal.

  18. What a great month you've had. I especially like the sound of Flywheel. My hubby loves planes too so he'd be more interested in them while I'd be drawn to the cars. Going to the circus is a great birthday present, I hope she had a lovely time.

  26. Sounds like you had a lovely June. Well done to your eldest on doing so well with her swimming. I love your suncatcher - we made something very similar last year. We've also had a relaxed approach to #30DaysWild this year but it was still good to have that extra encouragement to get outdoors and take a closer look at things. #countrykids

  27. #thesatsesh last year my son told me he 'wasn't emotionally ready' to go to the Circus, luckily turning five meant we could go and he adored it. I'm so glad acrobats still travel across the country and share their talent. fridgesays x
