A Quest for a Queen and Some Right Royal Activities

Ok so we may be a tad late to join in the Royal festivities with the wedding that occurred recently but a Queen is for a very long time on the throne right not just to be remembered on special occasions so we thought we'd still be ok to go ahead with Q is for Queen in line with the#ABC123Challenge run by Karen from Two Tiny Hands.  

Books

On looking through my daughters' bookcase the other day it soon became clear that we only had two books on Queens and that was Peppa Meets The Queen and  Alice in Wonderland. The rest of the books on our bookcase I have discovered mentioned princesses. I'm certain there are more books about Queens out there though right? 

Make A Sand Castle

Undeterred by this minor set back we were still able to find activities to amuse oneself. Such as building ourselves a sand castle in our sand pit and we added to this some windmills we had to hand as an alternative to flags and little Peppa Pig figures with crowns on.

Create A Crown

Talking of crowns here is one we made during the week.If you would like to see an alternative take on this then you can do so here. 

For this crown we used three pieces of construction paper to make the crown. One acted as the base while the other two were used for quilling. You can get a quilling kit for this but we cut pieces of paper to size before winding them round a pencil. Once in place we secured the ends with double sided tape.  Once the pieces were assembled into place we stuck these down with double sided tape too. Of course other adhesives are available but just as some people are addicted to their glue gun we love double sided tape.We also used some glitter glue in various colours for fun and cellotaped the ends of the crown together.
