When we moved in to this house all the colours reflected that of an Austin Powers era think pink bathroom with olive green bath suite and a purple living room. I understand that purple is this years colour so maybe we should have left it but we decided that all the rooms would get a lick of paint and went for natural colours on the walls such as yellow, blue and green. Due to the natural colours we were able to make a fairly easy swap with our kids when it came to exchanging bedrooms.
We kicked off this year with home improvements that allowed us to give the girls a bedroom each. The first step was in moving our things into their old room and moving their things into our old bedroom.

The first thing I did was transfer the curtains. Then all the decorative items before tackling our closets. By doing things a bit at a time it also gave us chance to work out whether we wanted to keep everything or not. If there were broken things and stuff that could be recycled that was dealt with then and there.
For our master closet I decided to use the top as a place to store seasonal decor. Think Christmas, Valentines, the odd bit of Halloween and our Easter decor will be stored away up there once finished with. These baskets are in my favourite colour and contain a fair bit.
Then comes all of our clothes neatly hung up on teal coat hangers the same colour as the baskets. As you can see most of the things currently hung up are my husbands I'm still trying to work out all the things I wish to hang up in the cupboard and would love to get some new dresses.
We removed the white board from the cupboard and the storage unit complete with baskets. This was replaced by a storage box we have been using for bed linen and our hamper holds toiletries.
Et voilĂ it's finished and ready to be used. What do you think? Have you been doing any updates on your home recently? As always we'd love to hear from you.

I am constantly rearranging furniture, it is like an obsession of mine! When we were in our first home which was a 3 bedroom with one living area and we had Adam we decided to move the girls, then aged 2 and 5 into our master bedroom as it made more sense, they could fit toys in there and their beds, we took the smaller room which still had a big closet and fitted our queen bed, it just had to be up against the wall on one side. We sold the house when Adam was almost one though and built a four bedroom. Then we built again to live closer to our kids school, we ahem been here two years now and after a long thought out process have decided to stay here long term and do up our garden into a more retreat style. Knowing where to start is my problem. Thank you for joining #ablogginggoodtime
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to swop bedrooms #blogginggoodtime@_karendennis
ReplyDeleteI have recently been making so many changes to my home and have just finished decorating my hallway and bedroom. I am always moving things so they fit better in certain places and I can use s much storage space as possible to keep it clutter free #blogstravaganza

ReplyDeleteI've sorted a few storage spaces out since we have been in our new house, it's nice to have everything in its place.

I'm so jealous of your closet! We are so lacking in storage space in our house, I'd love to have a big space like that. Keeping all the seasonal bits together is such a great idea - ours are scattered around the house in different places, and not very accessible, which tends to mean that, apart from Christmas, they can get a bit forgotten. ReplyDeleteWe swapped rooms with our girls when the baby was ready to move in with her sister - it made sense for them to have the bigger room as they had so much more clobber! Haha. It's looks like you've done a great job reorganising things! #blogcrush
ReplyDeleteI think it's fab to mix things up and change rooms around. I am thinking about it at the moment as our second gets older. Thanks so much for sharing with #thursdayteam
