Following in the footsteps of a, b, c and d comes e. As Mothers Day and Easter are on the horizon I hope you don't mind us indulging in merging both together and coming up with this fun little make as part of the #ABC123Challenge hosted by Karen from Two Tiny Hands.
This creation would equally look great in a variety of other colours so let your imagination run wild and let us know if you make these.
To Create These Egg Carton Flowers You Will Need:
- Egg carton
- Scissors
- paintbrush
- paint
- apron
- adhesive e.g. glue (I used all purpose glue)
- buttons
- green pipe cleaners
Now for the Fun Part
My daughter loves to paint it is one of her favourite things to do apart from play with the train set and get out the play dough. So when I told her we were going to do paint some parts of an egg carton she was so excited. I actually think she'd happily paint anything she was given but today was an egg carton.
Once I had cut up an egg carton we donned clothes we were happy to get messy in and an apron then set to work painting with a brush. We used finger paint that we had left over from other projects to paint with but other paints such as acrylic could be used or poster (tempura) paint. I've heard good things about Crayola washable paints i.e. they actually wash out of the clothes if you get any on them so when we run out we'll try it.
Once the painted pieces had fully dried I got some green pipe cleaners and stuck the tips through each of the flowers. Then we sorted through the buttons we had and glued one each into the flowers centre. For this we used an all purpose glue to stick them in place. There you have it your egg carton flowers are ready to give to your mum or adorn your own bedroom.
This creation would equally look great in a variety of other colours so let your imagination run wild and let us know if you make these.

ReplyDeleteOooh, I love these. I am pondering whether I could get Cygnet (my 3 year old boy) to join me in doing this. I love arts and crafts. He is indifferent. "You do painting on your own Mummy, I'm playing here" is something that Cygnet says often. Pen x #mg
