Following on from the letter 'a' last week which featured astronomy we bring you the letter 'b' for bugs and butterflies. Little ones love to discover the world around them and many children are fans of exploring creepy crawlies. So here are a few activities reflecting on the critters we share our world with.
Butterfly Feet
Fingerprint Bugs
The next activity we had fun doing was fingerprint bugs. Eldest applied ink to her fingers and placed it on to the paper. I then took to drawing little arms and legs on the fingerprints to create little bugs.
You could also try creating these colourful lady bugs too. I'd recommend a paint like DecoArt outdoors paint if you are going to let them free outdoors. As you can see we created them last year during Summer and the paint looks as good as new.
Get Outside
These activities were accompanied by a trip outside into the garden to discover what mini beasts were lurking in the garden. We began our search by looking under a flowerpot. This is what we discovered.
Reading
After these activities why not settle down with a book on butterflies, bugs or other insects. One book that springs to mind straight away is The Hungry Caterpillar but there are many more books on little critters as you can see from my post here.
What activities have you been up to with the children recently? We'd love to read about them.

The fingerprint bugs are super cute!! I popped into hobbycraft yesterday and had to walk away from the pain section as there were so many colour and with or without glitter!!! I just need to paintproof the front room haha! #globalblogging
