Every month I join Stevie with her linky Likes and Loves and this month is no exception. This is a wonderful way in which to look back on the month and appreciate all the wonderful things that have happened during it.
Going Slow
This month we have done a fair bit of hibernating so when hubby had the week off recently we were determined to get out and about geocaching again and blow off the cobwebs. Sadly the weather was against us and with the girls having streaming colds (my eldest cried herself to sleep with painful ears) it was deemed necessary to stay close to home. So we've done a fair bit of window shopping and been to the park a number of times instead.
Spending Time Together
There is certainly joy to be had in spending time together but with hubby having a bit of holiday it is also more possible for us all to get out and about as we are down to one car. We don't live in town so we are cooped up quite a bit of the time with few activities to do. So when we have access we can go to another toddler group in the area or go to places we've not been to for a while.
Me Time
Of course it also enables me to have some me time and get out and about sans enfants knowing they are in the capable hands of their Dad. It's not easy having children round your feet when you are trying to shop whether you have a list to go by or not so being able to take my time and browse the shelves is sheer bliss. I've been noticing that the Valentines and Easter ranges are popping up in stores in the area amongst the January sales stuff. Do you get the feeling everything seems to be on fast forward when it comes to shops and festivities?!
Home Decor
During our shopping trips I've picked up the odd piece of Decor for the home. I'm not great with keeping flowers and house plants alive so I've been thrilled to come across some decent faux flowers. The bright pink really does brighten up the room while the tea lights are often lit with faux candles and give the impression they are warming the room. Opting for white ones instead of red or pink means that they can be used throughout the year. I also bought a piece of bunting which is a little bit
big for the space intended but again can e used annually.
A House Project
Finally but perhaps the most dramatic change in the house this month has been the conversion of one room into two. This will give the girls their own room each and more independence. A place to retreat to if their sister is driving them crazy and a space to get some peace.
So that's it for this months likes and loves. Why not turn that January blues frown upside down and look back on this month and see what good things have come out of it.

Awesome that the girls will now have their own rooms! #bigpinklink

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post of all the wonderful things you’ve done & accomplished this looooooong month of January. Sorry to hear your girls have had colds. My husband and I are currently fighting the end of one and my daughter is now sporting a runny nose :(. It’s horrible isn’t it! Hope you can all get out more soon. Good luck with the renovation. #bigpinklink

ReplyDeleteHi Helena, it sounds like January was quite a nice month for you. Getting time to yourself and as a family are both lovely things to do. It's much nicer not living in town, I find that when I do wander around town I do genuinely enjoy it, I'm sure if I lived there it wouldn't be the same.

DeleteThat will be lovely for the girls to have their own space, I bet they can't wait! I'm sure it's a lot of upheaval, but it will all be worth it. And yes to shopping on your own - I find it one of the most blissful experiences! It doesn't even have to be exciting shopping, just a trip around Tesco is wonderful! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
ReplyDeleteLike you we've done a fair bit of hibernating this month as the weather has been so rubbish! It's awful being stuck indoors but we've made the most of it. Great news about the house renovations, and I hope you're getting excited about decorating the rooms. Thanks for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x

ReplyDeleteWe've been hibernating quite a lot this month too! I think January is definitely the time for it. The changes in the house sound very exciting though :) #LikedandLoved
ReplyDeleteSeparate rooms with children is definitely the way to go if you can, my two get on so much better these days since they have separate rooms and some space away from each other.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in with #LikedandLoved again!
