It seems such a long time since we went to a bushcraft session and even longer still since we attended a forest school experience. So when I heard that BBOWT were holding a day event entitled Wild Wood Day over the weekend I thought we'd stop by.
Now that our youngest can walk I think she's at an ideal age in which to explore much more. The uneven woodland floor was a bit of a challenge for her and she kept on wobbling over. However, undeterred she picked herself up, dusted herself down and set off again across the ground. She tried out the man made musical instruments with her whole body instead of using the hammer provided and she gathered sticks from the woodland floor.
Her big sister soon had the hang of making music with the hammers and sticks provided. Though her favourite activity and one she made a bee line for straight away was the ball and stick game. She watched the other little ones around her and got stuck in trying to copy them.
As you can see from the images I think the girls thoroughly enjoyed the event. The Wildlife Trusts put on a variety of events throughout the year to bring nature and people together.

DeleteIs that a slow worm she's holding? They are great to hold, and slightly surprising, I think. I hope she liked it. I do love the outdoor musical instruments, which are springing up. Wonderful addition. Smiling at your youngest using her whole body. Why not! #MMBC
ReplyDeleteI forget whether it was a grass snake or slow worm. It surprised me that unlike snakes that are dry to the touch it was not.

DeleteKids naturally love being outdoors so it's always wonderful to see parents taking their little ones out to explore the natural world around them. This looks like a great event to take our kids to! #mg

ReplyDeleteAhh I keep on meaning to try and do a day out like this but I keep thinking that Bens feet are too small for wellies so I'm wanting to wait until then as otherwise he has only one pair of shoes that will get ruined!!!
