This week has certainly seen it's highs and lows with the doctor's surgery messing up my prescription to getting ahead with the Christmas shopping. We've been enjoying time together as a family and getting out and about more.
I've also been busy grouping the girls seasonal books together and we've been looking at books on Halloween . I created a list of books for Halloween last year and I couldn't resist adding some books to the collection when I saw them in the supermarket recently.
We did see lots of wheelbarrows full of pumpkins over the weekend though as we ventured to Roves Farm just across the county border.

Admiring Autumn Colours
As a family we are not keen on the taste of pumpkin but we do love the colours autumn brings. An explosion of red, yellow, orange and green and images of Westonbirt Arboretum have filled our screens. We are now considering whether or not we went too early on in the year.
Roaming Around Roves Farm
We did see lots of wheelbarrows full of pumpkins over the weekend though as we ventured to Roves Farm just across the county border.
Homemade Pumpkins
We have also been having a play around with some air drying clay and been attempting to make a pumpkin from air dry clay.
To Create Homemade Pumpkins You Will Need:
- Air Dry Clay
- A rolling pin
- Two bowls
- Cling film
Now for the Fun Part
Place cling film over a couple of bowls. Then take part of the air drying clay and roll it out. Place the clay over the bowls and press down to mold to their shape. We left the clay to harden a little over night and then I made marks down the side of the pumpkin. I also created a stem for the pumpkin with my hands and tried attaching it with a little water. So far our pumpkin has yet to completely dry so it's a bit floppy. I do hope that when it finally dries that it will harden enough to stand alone.
What have you been up to this week?

The bowls look like fun. Please post final look for them. I've been cleaning, making treats, and playing online. Nothing earth shatterling LOL. #PoCoLo
ReplyDeleteThat basket of books looks brilliant, we don't have many Halloween books as the kids don't like spooky things which is a shame. Have a lovely weekend x #WotW

Lovely idea to use air drying clay to make pumpkins. I'm sure they will dry soon. Love going to Westonbirt. One of our favourite places. Too early? Sounds like a good reason to go again soon. #wotw
ReplyDeleteooh what a good idea, I'd not thought of making clay pumpkins, I'm sure we have some clay in the cupboard! I'm the only person in my household that actually likes pumpkin, especially pumpkin pie, but if I make one I end up being the only one to eat it and then it gets wasted. I spy Room on the Broom in your basket, that's my all time favourite :)

ReplyDeleteHi Helena, what a nice basket of books and what a good idea to keep them seasonal. The colours of autumn are pretty, we are starting to see a shift towards browns and reds here too, but it's no where near as colourful as the UK. Enjoy your Halloween fun. #PoCoLo
