Since the last week of our French holiday it is clear there has been a change in the weather. Almost as though the wind changed and soon the children were no longer enjoying playing in a paddling pool but huddled together in jumpers. A basket of mushrooms appearing in our family's home as a loved one had gone out collecting them and blackberries making their way into home made muffins.
Changed Out Their Seasonal Clothes
Before we headed to France I made one little change in the girls wardrobe and changed out their seasonal clothes. I put all their autumn/winter wear in their wardrobe and we took all their summer wear with us. Doing this made it easy to transition from one season to the other. Our holiday clothes could then be washed and stored away ready for when the sun comes out next year. I'm assuming that they will no longer fit the eldest but the youngest may get some wear out of them. The sandals have also been exchanged for wellies and more appropriate/practical seasonal footwear.
Changed Our Decor
We've also been embracing the season by changing our decor. Gone are the pink artificial blooms and in their place are new blue blooms and blue pumpkins from one of my favourite shops TK Maxx. I have noticed from people's videos on Youtube that fellow companion Homesense seems to have a bigger array of seasonal products in store than our TK Maxx but we don't have the other store in our county!
Get Out Of The House Everyday
I've also been trying to make a conscious effort to get out of the house everyday if only for a little while. Getting outdoors does wonders for your mind and spirit doesn't it? We have also been exploring yet another playground. This one has it's own water pump and wheel with the idea that the wheel will spin round when the water flows towards it. Sadly though the flume seems to be in need of a bit of tlc as it doesn't quite work out as planned.
As usual I'm linking up with Jocelyn at The Reading Residence with my word of the week being 'embracing'. Have you been embracing the new season?

It does sound like you've been embracing it. I've been getting my more autumnal candles out and burning and we were buying wellies at the weekend for the kids, they just keep growing! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Definitely been getting outside as much as possible. I really need to transition their clothes, though. I've been thinking about getting that done for a week now!
ReplyDeleteLovely post, autumn is definitely on the way, isn't it. I love making that switch to woolly jumpers, boots, and walking in the woods amongst those crunchy autumnal leaves.

We've loved getting out so far this Autumn, the best day so far was blackberry picking! Thanks so much for sharing with #Blogstravaganza xx
ReplyDeleteI love the changes that Autumn brings. It sounds like you are well prepared for the changing seasons. Have a great weekend x
ReplyDeleteHi Helena, we put our quilt on the bed last night and it was nice to feel all snuggly again. Getting outside is also nice now as the colours are changing and the air feels slightly fresher. It's funny how quickly the seasons change once they are ready to.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up with the #MMBC.
xx
I have just linked up my post about getting children out and about in the autumn, so couldn't agree more #satsesh@_karendennis
ReplyDeleteOh yes we are embracing the new season. Yesterday we were conker hunting and then I am going to use our collection to make an autumnal centerpiece at home. I love autumn. #thesatsesg
ReplyDelete#thesatsesh I often think how people that live in places with climates rather than weather / seasons operate...dont get me wrong, i love a summers day or a snow session...but I think we are blessed in the UK to have variation. Although I would prefer it if the snow would fall in winter haha x
ReplyDeleteI agree - the weather has just turned completely! I do like that it's still quite mild though (despite the wet, greyness!) and we're trying to get outside as much as we can too. #blogcrush
ReplyDeleteIt really has turned hasn't it - even though there's the odd glimpse of warm weather. I love autumn though, so it's not all bad. Blue pumpkins sound fun - thanks for sharing with #PoCoLo
ReplyDeleteGetting out and about makes such a difference, doesn't it? Sounds like you've been very organised with getting the summer wardrobe and autumn/winter wardrobes swapped over!
