Despite studying history to GCSE and learning a little Latin, history is not my strong point (too many deaths going on for my liking). What is Geocaching?

It has come to my attention that some people reading my blog don’t know what geocaching is. So without further ado I thought I’d write this post. Here is the definition and our experiences of this activity. Geocaching is similar to treasure hunting you download coordinates from the dedicated website, find the container outside, sign its log book and record the ones you've found on the computer when you get back home. Geocaches come in a range of shapes and sizes from film canisters to ammo cans and more interesting cache containers such as a case originally used for protecting bananas to this jolly character. Geocaching originated in America but we've yet to go there as a family. We have found ones in Holland , France and the UK . There are traditional, multi-cache, virtual, letterbox, event, mystery, webcam, earthcache, whereigo and labcaches hidden throughout the world for people to find. Bringing Up Bilingual Babies

Some people say that our lives make more sense if we were to live it backwards. Although I had a Spanish nanny when I was a child my language of preference at school was that of French. I went on three French exchanges, did work experience in a school and am now happily married to a French man. As we stepped into our family’s home recently, we left my mother tongue back in England and embraced that of my husband’s. Our eldest seemed unphased by this departure and was very eager to stay up late and socialise as is the culture. So as I left hubby and the eldest to it. I retired to the bedroom with the youngest. During our stay my daughter seemed to understand simple instructions like being asked to pick up a doll from the garden and of course knew what non and chocolat meant. Some of the words in French are very similar to English for they both have their roots in Latin so I imagine that this helps.
