Over the weekend we were treated to the warm rays of sun
shine radiating our skin yet again as we took on yet another geocaching trip in
the countryside. This time we were on the outskirts of Reading in Mapledurham to be a little more precise and walked about 3-4 miles.
The walk saw us following the border of a golf course. Every
time we see one I'm reminded of my father who loves to play the game. Bird call
could be heard from above and the old leaves that had been shed from the trees
carpeted the ground and rustled as we moved through them.
Our eldest led the way through the fields and pointing to
the golf course asked ‘what’s that?’ Yes the questioning has begun in our
household which is lovely to see and I feel there’s a little word bank blossoming
with new words that get stored away and come out again later to play. Of course not all words get stored properly I
mean why say more than one syllable if one can suffice (banana being one such
word that comes out as ban).
Because it’s been so warm recently I've tried to make sure
that the girls are well and truly protected from the sun. But what do you do
when your little ones refuse to wear their hats even if it has a ribbon that is
supposed to help keep it on?! As you can tell from my post
Brightwell-cum-Sotwell this is beginning to be quite a habit with the girls as
they like to both throw away their hats only for Mummy or Daddy to retrace
their footsteps and find them!
Anyway I digress as the walk itself was a lovely thing as we
meandered through ploughed fields, passed bluebell wooded areas and even saw an
old school house with a bell outside. Our
eldest loves nothing better than to walk instead of being carried but with such
little legs she tires more easily than we do and ends up being carried, then
walking, then being carried again until we are exhausted and she falls asleep
when we get back to the car.
Her sister on the
other hand was so content that she fell asleep in the carrier on Daddy’s back
and was met with admirers (golfers) who commented on how small she was and they
couldn't believe the weather we were experiencing that day. My husband later
commented that this type of weather is usually reserved for July.
Has the weather taken you by surprise recently?
Oh we are loving the weather at the moment, it has been so gorgeous! We've never been geocaching, something we really need to try as we love being outdoors as a family. Lovely photos! Thanks so much for linking up to #ThePlacesWeWillGoLinky xx
ReplyDeleteWe are having a few outstanding days of weather here too! Everybody outside! Thanks for linking up to #globalblogging!
ReplyDeleteWe've had the odd day of truly stupendous weather. Saturday was one such day, it could have been July all right. Slings are so convenient with the little ones, aren't they? I fondly remember my babywearing days! Now all four walk under their own steam, even if the youngest still needs Daddy's shoulders every so often.

We've been having nothing but chilly rain and cloudy gloom, so I'm just living vicariously through images of sunshine and warmth. Hurry up, spring!! :'(
ReplyDeleteThe weather has ben lovely, not sure I could walk so many miles in it though, especially not while carrying a little one! #globalblogging

ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a lovely day out. I love being out and about in the countryside. I used to live in Finchampstead which is not far from there. Not all that exciting for you, but I now live in Perth, Australia and no one has ever heard of Berkshire! Thanks for joining us at #GlobalBlogging.
ReplyDeleteIt is so lovely to get out in the sunshine. Mine were always terrible with hats too and my oldest is a red head so burns easily. We always have to put block on his ears because they always burn. I love your second shot - what a beautiful path to walk. Thank you for linking up to #PointShoot 📸
ReplyDeleteThe weather's been gorgeous, hasn't it? And this walk looks beautiful. Thanks so much for linking this up to #DreamTeam.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness the sun has peaked through and the warmth has arrived. It literally went from 31 degrees one day to 85 degrees the next. Worrisome? Yes. Enjoyable , oh yes! Lovely! #pointshoot

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful walk you all managed, it's amazing how much ground you can cover without realising it some days isn't it? I hope you found all the geocaches you were looking for, I know they can be difficult to discover. I've been loving the sunshine recently and I look forward to reading more adventures where you've all made the most of the sunshine!
