Easy DIY Upcycle Fancy Dress Shoes

During the month of March we travelled to Henley and not only did we pick up some books, chairs and a table. I also noticed some lovely little fancy dressing up shoes for £1 each. My eldest has recently discovered my wedding shoes and been playing with them so I decided to pick up a couple of pairs from the charity shop basket and take them home. Sadly there was no dressing up dresses to go with these princess shoes but one day soon I’d like to address this problem.

Of course if you don’t make sure you put things safely away then little hands get hold of things. Yes you've guessed it those little shoes were subjected to being discovered by baby and her mouth! She’s always hungry and discovering the world by her mouth but munching on feathers is not a great way to find a nutritious meal! So the shoes were then in need of a makeover.  

Fortunately for my girls they have a creative mother who could see that with a little magic they could be refashioned into something to treasure. First I removed the feathered mush and set aside the jewelled part. I then removed the old glue using nail varnish and applied some all purpose glue to the little shoes. Then carefully placed ribbon over the front of them. I then cut the ribbon to size and tucked them into the gaps either side of the shoe. The jewelled piece was then glued to another piece of fancy ribbon off cut and stuck down in the middle of the shoe.

So there we have it mummy’s wedding shoes are saved from the fancy dress collection and the girls have some lovely little shoes to play with. Ok so since then I may have got a bit carried away and added a couple of more pairs to their collection but ....
