It seems a while since we went out as a family to eat
lunch together at a tearooms or similar eatery. In fact I may go as far as
saying that we've not been out since having our youngest. Ok we did have the geocaching
picnic last weekend but we all brought our own food and shared with one
another.
On Sunday we decided to try out the family music festival in
Charlbury to the west of the county. Unfortunately, there looked to be little room
to park in the area and as we arrived so did the rain so a lot of people seemed
to be leaving.
Instead of deciding to head home straight away we travelled
further west to a place called Burford. There we browsed the various shops
before heading to Huffkins for a bite to eat. I've always loved the lovely food
they do there particularly the cakes.
On browsing the menu we decided to plump for the BBQ pulled
pork on a bap which came with chips and a side dish (ramekin) of coleslaw. I'm
rather fussy regards food preferring my food to be rather plain so I was
pleased to see that you have the option of putting it on yourself or leaving it
free from the dressing. For drinks we opted for one tea, a strawberry milkshake
and they also brought us some water.
If you have a meal in the tearoom you get a discount off of
their cakes. Something we would have loved to have taken advantage of. Unfortunately
we didn't have time for cake browsing at the end of our meal.
The tearoom staff were very friendly and made us feel at
ease while we juggled our girls. We did have a moment when one of the bottles
went flying and the littlest has taken to chirping for attention but on the
whole they were really well behaved.
The tearoom itself appears to be very accommodating of
families. Our eldest soon discovered a
hamper full of toys available to play with. There are high chairs and bumbos
ready to use and the changing facilities were found to be clean and non-gender
biased. The only thing I would change is the steps going into the premises that
also make it difficult for those with a disability not just babies who can’t
walk.
So if you are in the Cotswolds why not check out
Huffkins when you visit. They truly are a delight.
Where have you eaten out lately?
Wow, that sounds lovely! Great review, glad you had such a lovely time. #MarvMondays
ReplyDeleteIt is one of my favourite places to visit.
DeletePulled pork is always so tasty, sounds like a good family choice of places to stop. Popping by today from #TwinklyTuesday
ReplyDeleteIt sure is a great stop off place. The last time I had pulled pork was at a barn dance.

ReplyDeleteI hear you
Delete"No time for cakes" *sobs* I would have been devastated! In fact no. Scrap that. I would have cancelled my order for a main and just ordered cake and lots of it! Although to be fair pulled pork does sound nice. With a side of cake obvs. Great review lovely. Thanks for linking with #fartglitter x
ReplyDeleteThe pulled pork was delicious. In hindsight I think I should have sent hubby next door to choose some cake while we waited for our meal.
DeleteI love cafes with a box of toys for kids. It really helps their mums and dads enjoy a few sips of coffee or tea in peace. On of our favourite places to eat out with our girls is a leisure centre near us. There's soft play in the cafe area. Genius! #triedtested
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds a fantastic idea. I've seen similar at fast food chains abroad.
DeleteWhat a fab cafe and love the idea of a toy box, genius. What a great way to have minutes peace to sip a hot tea :) X #marvmondays

ReplyDeleteWe sure did.
DeleteI love little cafe's and tea rooms that have toys for the little ones, it makes a visit so much less stressful when you have restless children! It sounds a great little place to eat :)
