This month I am joining forces with the #30DaysWild campaign connecting with nature and learning about the wonderful world in which we live.
The weather has been a right mixture of sunshine and showers this week hasn't it?! This has led us to go into the garden only when it has been sunny. We've managed to get a few things done in it such as install a new washing line, mow the lawn, tend to the Roses and cut back plants all things that add up to keeping the garden in some order. However, like all things once you start you soon think up other things to do in it.

Our Garden |
We need a new BBQ for sure cooking on an old bird bath is just not right is it?! Then there’s the fences that should be removed being careful that when we do move them to watch out for wildlife that may have taken to calling the area home. I’d also like to remove the slabs leading down the garden and replace those with either lawn or stepping stones. Hubby says it’s too big a job for him to do though. Then having seen a number of gorgeous playhouses recently while reading people’s blogs I've been inspired to get one for our Daughter.

Our Little Gardener |
Talking of my Daughter as you can see from the photo above she likes to get involved in the gardening too. Daddy took her shopping recently and she selected Sunflowers to plant in the garden. They started planting it up
this week and the pot is currently residing in our kitchen window. Time is
ticking to get them growing and into the garden as Sunflower season is coming to an end. We've still got a bit of the month left to play so we
shall see what happens.

Bringing the Sunshine Indoors |
Meanwhile I saw a lovely idea in June’s Mother&Baby
magazine on butterflies. I adore these beautiful critters and think of them as
being a sign of peace similar to the dove. I showed hubby and the next thing we
were searching for pots to host our own butterfly cafe. Why stop at one though
when you can have three?! So three little cafes sit in wait for beautiful
butterflies to arrive and feed off the fruit we've put out for them.

Making our Butterfly Cafes |
What have you and the little ones been up to in the garden?
Ah, we've been growing tomatoes and strawberries so far. Also tried a sunflower, but it was devoured by slugs. The growing conditions this year seem perfect; everything in the garden is growing with amazing speed. Love the idea of a bird bath barbecue! #ShareWithMe
ReplyDeleteThose are great to plant. My daughter loves eating strawberries. We seem to have been invaded by snails here. So I can truly understand you not being happy about slugs.
DeleteWe are thrilled as the bulbs the little boys planted a couple of months ago are all blooming now - they are so excited! Thanks for linking to #sharewithme - do join in again!
ReplyDeleteAh brilliant. You never know with these things do you.
DeleteOh how fun that she got to go shopping for her seeds! My six year old planted a sunflower seed at school. He has the plant brought home & we planted it outside. I'm hoping it grows big enough to flower but the bunnies took a bite out of it. Now I have a cage around it. They are high maintenance! lol Thanks so much for joining us at #BloggerClubUK x
ReplyDeleteSounds like your rabbits are as naughty as Peter and Benjamin.
DeleteMy garden is overgrown and need some serious attention but right now I'm just too busy to face it. You're doing great!
ReplyDeleteYour garden sounds like a great place for wildlife though.
DeleteAaaah a butterfly cafe??!! I LOVE this idea!!! How gorgeous. We always get lots of butterflies on the Buddleia each year but a butterfly cafe sounds wonderful! :) Thanks so much for linking up Helena! Caro #HomeEtc
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I love butterflies to me they are similar to the sign of peace offered by the dove.
DeleteYes bring on the summer and flowers! My Hubby is currently outside pottering in the garden, it has been a lovely evening here! Thanks for sharing. Jess xx #HomeEtc
