This month I am joining forces with the #30DaysWild campaign connecting with nature and learning about the wonderful world in which we live.
This morning I thought we’d brave the weather and take a
stroll down a country path not far from us. The path is great for pushchairs,
wheelchairs and learning to walk as it is so flat. It is also rather wide so
passing people is not a problem. I let my daughter decide how far we were to
walk and where she’d like to wander to an extent. She kept looking towards the
muddy stream and there was no way I’d let her go in there!
Using Her Senses
Little ones explore the world via their senses. One of these being touch which she used in exploring this wall. When she's older perhaps we could encourage this by taking rubbings of the area.
Sight
When you are little there are loads of things to explore by sight too. Here she can be seen peering through a gate and asking to be let through it by rocking it. We also saw an Anderson Shelter.
Hear
It is very quiet around this area that I'm sure the only thing you can hear if you are really quiet is perhaps the trees swaying in the breeze or a fallen piece of nature.
Smell
We tried to smell the colourful flowers we admired on our walk around the area but they didn't have much of an aroma. Perhaps when my daughter is older she will enjoy spotting colours in nature too.
Tired From Exploring
And when her little legs became too tired to walk any more I put her back in her pushchair and we headed home for lunch.
Have you taken a walk on the wild side recently?

Great to see you getting out and exploring! Sometimes the best things in lid are free :-)
ReplyDeleteThey sure are. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteWe are joining in here too! We have done 2 days and we love the challenge!
ReplyDeleteYour walk looks fun. Its always nice to try to go out whatever the weather!

That's great to hear. With my daughter being so young I don't like to go out in rain. Fortunately it stayed away.
DeleteWe have joined in the 30 days wild challenge too (even though we aren't in the UK) we love getting out and about and spending time at the beach and woods. Looks like a lovely walk and always good when it's pushchair accessible too for little legs. How cool that you saw an Anderson shelter! Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime 🎉
ReplyDeleteThat's the great thing about wildlife it's universal. Those places sound delightful. I find it strange there was one there as to me where we live is very much in land.
DeleteI love walks like this. You can never be quite sure what you will find. A great way to build up her walking distance too. #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteThat is very true.
DeleteGreat that you have such a lovely and safe place to walk close to where you live :-) #countrykids
ReplyDeleteWe're very lucky.
DeleteWe went to a local stream this week and let the children play for hours! It was so much fun! Looks like this is a lovely path to walk with the family.
ReplyDeleteI think my daughter would agree with you that streams are great. Unfortunately, the one running through here was very muddy.
DeleteA lovely little stroll and a great way to grab a little fresh air and appreciate nature on your door step. Keep up with the 30 day challenge, such a good idea and very #CountryKids. Thanks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is. It's been good fun.
DeleteI signed up to the 30 days wild too, but my oldest son has been under the weather so we've had time at the park every day instead.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your daughter had a great time and I'll be she slept well after all that exploring!
Thanks for joining #daysoutwithatoddler - see you next month!
Sorry to hear that they've been poorly. You don't need to blog every day just consistently. Have you seen different things pop up in the park? ie. animals/festivals/plants etc?
DeleteIt's good for everyone to get out of the house and have some fresh air.
That's great to hear it's a lovely campaign. I feel for you if you have to carry baby everywhere. They get so heavy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little explorer and looks like a lovely path for a walk. We are doing the challenge too. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. It sure is.
DeleteI love letting the kids choose the way, they are surprisingly sure of which direction they want to go at a young age. It looks like she had a great time! Thanks for linking up to #Whatevertheweather
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to get out of the house. Even if you don't venture too far.
