I was looking back over some photos of our house the other day and was surprised to see how it has changed over time and truly become our home.

Yes home truly is where the heart is and it feels so good. Take the living room for instance which used to look like this:

Living Room as it used to be |
Now the bookcase has gone. The baskets and their unit have
gone upstairs into my daughter’s room and the plastic drawer storage now sits
awaiting usage or to be sold in favour of something more in keeping.

In its place are this wooden Traby Unit complete with canvas bins....

Unit used for daughter's toys |
and these bookshelves with doors.

Three bookcases were used to make this. |
The sofa bed has been relocated to the other side of the room and another sofa bed takes its place. The glass table has been temporarily relocated and we've managed to source under bed storage on wheels. The perfect solution for storing our winter outerwear i.e... scarves etc.

Now all we need is a bit of inspiration to
finish off a couple of the pieces. We don’t want to go too dark and have a
whole room of black furniture so what do you think? How would you finish these
projects?
It already looks so different, it's amazing how just clearing some of the things away and using better storage really opens up the space X #HomeEtc
ReplyDeleteStorage is definitely great to use.

DeleteIt's amazing how it all changes over time. The bookcase makes a big difference. I've not seen a sofa bed like yours before. I like the style.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is. I like the improvements and you are right about that bookcase. Thank you.
DeleteIt's so interesting to see how rooms change over time and start feeling more and more home-like. I do love your bookcase and the patchwork quilt and cushions on your sofa bed :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Louise
DeleteI love how we make a house a home. Looking at my living room, it's small and cluttered but it tells a story we have photos everywhere. #bestandworst
ReplyDeleteDefinitely sounds very homely to me. :)
DeleteI love watching our house slowly change, I really need to put more stuff up on the walls and make it more homely. As we rent it can be difficult but we are getting there :) Love the storage boxes, I love to organise stuff although I cant say it stays that way for long haha! #bestandworst
ReplyDeleteOh I know that feeling with one mini whirlwind. I just need to turn my back for a second et voila mess.

ReplyDeleteI am certainly loving storage at the moment. It's true they help make 'a space feel bigger and less cluttered'.
DeleteHave you had a nosey at the Maisons du Monde furniture? They have a modern retro collection that I've been lusting after which would go really well with your new sofa and bookcases :)
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't but it sounds intriguing. Thanks for the inspiration.
DeleteI cannot live surrounded in clutter, it makes me feel anxious so you're right about clearing some room and creating storage. Looking so much better!!!!
