Not ones for staying indoors particularly when the weather is good we took a trip to Savernake Forest in Wiltshire.
We parked up near the entrance of the car
park and soon had the first geocache of the day in hand. Strangely it was
sighted near an old pair of rotting knickers hanging from a branch! Not the
pleasantest sight to come across but we've come across worse!
We then headed towards the next geocache
but with a mad dog on the loose I suggested that we do the series in reverse.
That way perhaps the dog wouldn't be there when we returned. I've never been
keen on dogs well except for a few breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors and
Collies. I am hoping that I don't pass my fear on to my daughter. So far she
seems oblivious and coos from her pushchair over Westies.
So off we went to the last cache on the
series and thoroughly enjoyed our walk round the forest. Walking in reverse
enabled us to meet a number of new geocachers who all seemed rather pleasant.
In fact it was funny to see how they acted towards us as the hobby is rather
secretive so they tried not to let on that they were doing the same thing as
us.
The last part of the route was particularly muddy, so we were
relieved we’d done the course in reverse. We saw some cachers who had just
started using a double buggy to get their little ones across. I'm not sure how
much of the series they decided to take on but the father mentioned to us that
he’d had to carry it once or twice already! Hmm perhaps slings would be best to
use on an outing like this.
With April being known for rain showers it has come as a lovely
surprise to see there have been some glorious days filled with sunshine. How
have you spent these sunny days?
I am loving these sunny days! However, it rained AND SNOWED today!! The sun is out right now but it is SO cold. That place looks lovely and I would love to visit there.
ReplyDeleteI agree the weather has been crazy. The sun is sure deceiving. It definitely was a lovely place to explore.
DeleteA lovely walk with you! We have had very odd weather in the last few days, hail, rain, snow and sunshine and mostly cold, hope that it improves soon for all of us!
ReplyDeleteYes we've experienced that too. Warm sunny weather is definitely welcome here.
DeleteThat looks like a lovely walk for you under the sunny sunny days. We've had some hails and sleet recently. ;) x #countrykids
ReplyDeleteIt sure has been wild and untamable
DeleteWell done on your geocaching walk, sounds like you did really well and missed the showers too. I'd have avoided the roaming dog too, without an owner you can never be too sure. The woods look beautiful, even if the sunshine was a little deceiving on the temperature. Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteThank you. Ah it had an owner but even they said it was mad so I quickly retreated. We are truly blessed to live a world with nature like this.
DeleteWe've been really loving the sunshine. It's so nice to finally have good weather and you can't beat a good geocaching session. Well done on your find! Thank you so much for sharing with #whatevertheweather xx
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear. It's felt like a long drawn out winter here to me.
DeleteEek, rotting knickers! Curious to know what worse bathing a you have found! Well done on finding more geocaches, nice to see fellow geocachers out and about on your walk too. Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather :) x
ReplyDeleteOh not worse bathing but we've come across caches near landfill sites before and sewers. We tend to look ahead and avoid those.
