A Little Wander in Winter: Moor Ditch

Taking photos of my week through Project 365 it has quickly come to our attention that our outdoors adventures have been rather short this Winter and understandably so. Still the brief excursions outside have been good for us and we are not suffering from cabin fever.

A Little Wander in Winter: Moor Ditch

With the girls back at preschool we have been rather restricted as to how far we travel and how many geocaches we pick up. Perhaps one of our more successful days for this was when we set out to Moor Ditch . We pulled off the road and got out the scooters believing the area to be lovely and flat. We weren't wrong and soon eldest was gliding along on the scooter in search of the geocaches along the track. Youngest on the other hand was less keen on using the scooter and poor Daddy had to carry the scooter and her too!

Eldest loves to zoom off on her scooter and when I told her we had reached our final point of the path for us today she got off and headed into the area in search for the geocache. She didn't find it but found a den that clearly showed the place had been visited before. She's seen dens like this before so had a good look around it before deciding it would be a good idea to add her own sticks to the feature. It seemed to me like she was weaving them around the existing structure. The odd one snapped but she was unphased by this.

Meanwhile hubby was turning over the area looking for the elusive geocache and on discovering it promptly signed and sealed it back up. Then it was back on the scooter for eldest and back in to the arms of Daddy for the little one. Zooming back down the track from where we'd come and arriving back at the car which we clambered into quickly to warm up.

Have you ventured outdoors this year?

  1. Little trips out like this are so worthwhile. It doesn't have to be for long but it makes all the difference. Glad Hubby found the Geocache too. #CountryKids

  2. I love it when people leave these kind of tepee dens up and other kids can add to them and enjoy as well. Mich x

  4. What a fun walk. Good to find a smooth surface for scooting too. Weaving her own sticks into the den sounds very creative. Glad you found the geocache, but the walk does sound like it was perfect one way or the other. Except carrying the scooter. Not so fun! #MMBC

  7. Little outdoor adventures like this one make the dreary January bearable, even though with the still short daylight hours, you have to time it carefully.

  9. It’s good to get outside even if just for brief trips. Sounds like your eldest enjoyed being out on her scooter even if your youngest did prefer to be carried instead. Glad your hubby managed to find the geocache. #CountryKids
